Wayne Bickerton and Tony Waddington became involved with the group in 1976 when they chose them to sing their song "Love For All Seasons" for that year's Eurovision. The song didn't win any prizes, but the experience lifted the profiles of the irresistible Val Smeddles and Janet Fraine, and the irrepressible Norman Smeddles, Phillip Thompson and Derek Marl. One year later writers and artists met again, this time recording for Bickerton's own State label.
