Rokotto

A seven-piece mixed-race soul group featuring one female and two male singers, Rokotto were formed in September 1975 by lead singer Cleveland Walker, drummer Howard McLeod (how's that for a West Indian's name) and bassist Owen Lloyd Wisdom.

Outside of their native Scotland Rokotto also enjoyed a good reputation on the live circuit around Leeds, and in London played well-received gigs at the Speakeasy, Gulliver's and Ronnie Scott's.

In September 1976 the band signed for State Records. The first record was released the following February. In 1982 State records released 'Get up and Dance Now' followed by 'Boogie On Up'.
